At Willow Elementary, reading is more than a skill—it’s a doorway to creativity, curiosity, and connection. Our Read-A-Thon is a schoolwide fundraiser that supports our Artful Learning approach while building strong, joyful readers.

🌟 What Is Willow’s Read-A-Thon?

The Read A Thon is a fun, time-limited event where students are encouraged to read as much as they can—on their own, with family, or alongside classmates. Students track their reading minutes while gathering encouragement from family and friends in the form of pledges or donations.

The focus is on participation and raising money, with a little competition. Every reader, at every level, can participate and potentially win prizes. 

🎨 Why the Read A Thon Matters to Artful Learning

Artful Learning at Willow integrates academics with the arts to deepen understanding and spark imagination. This fundraiser plays a central role in this process.

Funds raised through the Read A Thon directly support Artful Learning experiences, including classroom materials, artist collaborations, performances, and creative projects that bring learning to life.

⌛ When does it take place?

📝 Registration Opens: February 5, 2026
 ➡️ All students should be registered before March 2

📖 Reading Dates: March 2–16, 2026
 ⏰ All reading minutes must be logged by 11:59 PM on Monday, March 16

👨‍👩‍👧 How Families Can Participate

2️⃣ Click “Not Registered For This Year’s Event”
3️⃣ Enter your name and email, then click Submit 

4️⃣ Follow the on-screen steps to register your reader(s) and add family & friends

Students

  • Read every day during the Read A Thon period (March 2nd - 16th)

  • Track reading minutes daily/weekly through reading log

  • Share favorite stories and reflections

Families 

  • Encourage daily reading at home

  • Log their reading minutes in Pledgestar

  • Support the event through pledges or donations

  • Celebrate effort, not just totals
